Ronnie Wood feels ‘reborn’ after two battles with cancer | Entertainment and celebrity news

Ronnie Wood feels like a “reborn” after twice surviving cancer.

The Rolling Stones legend – whose twins Gracie Jane and Alice Rose will be six on May 30 – admitted his young family with his theater producer wife Sally, 43, has given him new life.

Asked by Esquire magazine if he feels “reborn”, the 74-year-old guitarist replied: “Without a doubt. I have a new private life, newfound health, new inspirations… and now I have need that energy more than anything. After all, we are facing the last tour!

When asked what he meant by the “last” tour with the Stones about to hit the road, he clarified, “Well, all the tours are the last. You never know what’s going to happen. All visits are a mystery, but there is no doubt that this one is especially so.

Wood – who is due to turn 75 on June 1 when the iconic band kick off their European tour – revealed last year that he had secretly battled cancer for the second time during lockdown.

He noted that by the time he was diagnosed with small cell cancer, he had since “fired things up.”

In 2017, Wood successfully battled lung cancer after 54 years of smoking up to 30 cigarettes a day, and he had part of his lung removed before it was confirmed in 2018 that he was cancer-free.

Meanwhile, the musician has adult children Leah, 42, Jamie, 46, and Tyrone, 37, with Jo Wood, who he was married to for 26 years before they separated in 2011.

Reflecting on his new family and young twins, he said: “Life has given me the opportunity to raise girls again at this age. My older children have grown up, now two babies are running around the house again. Alice and Gracie and her mother are a blessing.

“I like to always have them nearby. And they accompany me everywhere.

Referencing his traveling roots, he added, “They’re globetrotters…remember we’re a gypsy family!”
