Hello friends. Welcome to another late summer Wednesday, which will likely include a thunderstorm or two. Did you win the Mega Millions? Neither do I. No one actually did, so we’ll have another chance on Friday when the jackpot soars to $1 billion.
As far as Kentucky news is concerned, we are in a lull. Justin Edwards’ commitment has come and gone, Ugonna Kingsley won’t announce her decision until Monday, and we’re still a week away from Kentucky Football Media Day and two weeks away from the trip to the Bahamas. Alas, the KSR train is rolling. Come aboard as we guide you through what’s happening in the world of British sport and beyond.
Reed Sheppard steals the show in Las Vegas
Last night, future Cats Reed Shepard and Rob Dillingham faced off in the Las Vegas Big Time Finals, and it was the Kentucky native who shone the brightest. Sheppard had 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists to lead Midwest Basketball Club to a 78-67 victory over Strive For Greatness, a team that included Dillingham, five-star SF Mackenzie Mgbako, four-star CG Bronny James, four-star SF Mookie Cook and four-star SG Wesley Yates.
Sheppard did a bit of everything, showing his outside shot, driving the lane and throwing the ball all over the court. ESPN brought him in for a halftime interview, and at one point he was the #15 trending topic in the US on Twitter. Dillingham finished with 11 points and four assists. Zack Geoghegan has a full recap of the game, or you can check out some of the highlights via ESPN below.
Will Drake, Kanye and Lil Wayne soon rock Kentucky Blue?
It’s the rumor in the street, according to Jack Pilgrim. Drake might even make an appearance on the trip from Kentucky to the Bahamas.
This class of 2023 is definitely something.
Football news coming?
This morning Matt Jones tweeted that he hears a “relatively important” Kentucky football player will be entering the transfer portal soon, but that shouldn’t have a major impact on this year’s team. We’ll let you know when it’s official.
New YouTube content from Oscar Tshiebwe
The star of the current Kentucky team continues to spread the good word. Oscar Tshiebwe uploaded a new video on his YouTube channel yesterday in which he explains how he uses his relationship with God to become stronger.
Once Oscar’s basketball days are over, he clearly has another career aligned with the church.
Spotted: Ethan Hawke in a Kentucky shirt
What do Adam Sandler, Heath Ledger and Ethan Hawke have in common? They are now all members of the “Random Celebrity wearing Kentucky gear” club. Hawke sported this retro design in “The Last Movie Stars,” a CNN film about Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. Steve Zahn, an avid Kentucky fan, is also in “The Last Movie Stars,” so maybe that’s a gift from him? Anyway, I approve.
Aaron Rodgers channeled Air conditioning at Packers training camp
The Green Bay QB filled in Cameron Poe when he stopped by training camp yesterday.
Never a dull moment with the reigning NFL MVP.
I want a uniform
Check out Notre Dame’s uniforms for the Shamrock Series game against BYU in Las Vegas:
The Fighting Irish also showed the united in a parody of The hangover with Marcus Freeman, Isaiah Foskey and Michael Mayer.
