James Bond POLL: Should Dwayne Johnson be the next 007? | Celebrity News | Showbiz and television

The iconic role of James Bond has been played for 15 years by Daniel Craig, who said goodbye to the franchise with his latest release ‘No Time to Die’. Mr. Craig’s Last Hurrah broke box office records, grossing $119 million in its first weekend.

Many suitors have been lined up to be the next Mr. Bond, but Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has claimed it’s time to shine as Agent 007.

In an interview with Esquire, former WWE star Mr Johnson confessed his grandfather was a Bond villain, acting alongside Sean Connery in the 007 movie ‘You Only Live Twice’.

He said: “I would like to follow in his footsteps and be the next Bond. I don’t want to be the bad guy, I have to be Bond.

Until now, there has never been a non-white James Bond, and many fans are asking that the new Bond be chosen with diversity in mind.

Luther star Idris Elba was one of the favorites in the running to be the next James Bond, but he ruled himself out.

At the premiere of Mr. Elba’s new Netflix film, The Harder They Fall, he said: “No, I won’t be James Bond.”

But when asked if he would like to play the role, he replied: “Who wouldn’t?

“Would it be amazing to have a Black James Bond? It’s a sign of the times when we can stop talking about black, white and color.”

Other potential bonds include ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ star Tom Hopper, 36, Scottish actor Richard Madden, 35, who starred in Game of Thrones, and James Norton, 36, who starred in many British television series.

Craig was recently asked who he would like to succeed him in the future.

The actor replied, “It’s not my problem.”

Who do you want to see on the big screen as the next Bond?
