Evan Mock is launching a collection of swimwear and clothing with Acacia.
The Gossip Girl star, skater and designer label Sorry in Advance has teamed up with the Hawaiian label for a new limited-edition collaboration inspired by her own hometown of Waimea Bay on O’ahu’s North Shore.
He told WWD, “Every project I work on, I try to glorify Hawaii. Hawaii is everything to me.
“Basically, Hawaii is the best place in the world and everyone who goes there gets stuck there or wants to come back as soon as they leave.
“And it’s just such a big part of my lifestyle that I always try to honor that. And [the brand] Acacia kind of embodies this whole beach life situation.”
The collection will feature 46 pieces including men’s, women’s and children’s swimwear and street-to-street beachwear.
He praised Acacia founder Naomi Acacia Newirth – who started the label in 2010 and is its creative director and designer – and her team for knowing “their shit”.
He added: “Naomi and them, they exploited it so much with swimsuits.
“They know their shit pretty well and basically all I had to do was contribute ideas and design. They figured out the rest.”
There’s also a bonus for Evan working with someone he’s been friends with for a long time, which is how he prefers to work.
He explained, “That’s kind of the only reason I do anything. I like working with my friends.”
