Elsa Pataky “can’t live without” mascara.
The ‘Interceptor’ actress feels “sleepy” if she doesn’t wear eyelash makeup every day and her other beauty essential is blush that she can double as lip gloss.
She said: “I can’t live without mascara. I just feel sleepy when I don’t have it. And I have a cheek cream color that I use just for my cheeks and for my lips. These are the essentials that I always want to have in the morning and in my purse.”
The 45-year-old beauty – who has daughter India, 10, and twins Tristan and Sasha, eight, with husband Chris Hemsworth – thinks the key to her beautiful skin is a “simple” routine, although now her children get older, she has more time to try out various treatments and rituals.
She told Australian magazine Marie Claire: I’ve always kept my skincare routine very simple. I haven’t done much to my skin. It’s true that when you’re young, you try all kinds of things. You put on all kinds of masks [and other products on] but over time you know what works for you. You start to know your skin and what is good for it. My basics are just to always cleanse my skin every night, even if I come home late.
“Then always moisturize, always before bed, and every morning. That’s been my staple all my life. I would never go out without my moisturizer and sunscreen now here.
“When you’re a mum with babies, you just don’t have the time, so it’s really difficult. Now, I think with the kids growing up a bit, I feel like I have more time for me to do [things like skincare] rituals. You have to think “Oh, it’s my time. I’m just going to use it. I’m going to enjoy this moment.” I think all moms deserve some time for themselves.”
But Elsa has “no time” for her hair and with Australia’s climate, insisted there’s no point trying to style it every day anyway.
She said: “I don’t have time for my hair. My hair is pretty straight so I don’t have anything to do, and there’s nothing you can do. [anyway] with humidity so it is best to leave it natural.”
