The web lit up on a rumor claiming Queen Elizabeth II had died, despite a parliamentary official saying there was no truth to the report.
Celebrity outlet Hollywood Unlocked released the report overnight that the monarch had passed away.
The Queen is not dead but is currently recovering from COVID-19.
At the time of publication of this article, the fake story had still not been removed from the Hollywood Unlocked site.
“Sources close to the Royal Kingdom have exclusively informed us that #QueenElizabeth has passed away,” Hollywood Unlocked said.
“She was supposed to attend the wedding of British Vogue editor Edward Enninful, but she was found dead. Story development.
Of course, the report went viral despite no announcement from Buckingham Palace, Clarence House or any other credible source. Not even The Sun, which really says something.
It is understood that when tragic events occur within the Royal Family, the news is first spread via a news flash to the UK Press Association news agency before being announced to the rest of the world.
Dayo Okewale, chief of staff in the House of Lords, said the report into the Queen’s death was “false”.

The Palace confirmed that although the Queen has COVID-19, she is doing well: “As Her Majesty is still experiencing mild symptoms of a cold, she has decided not to undertake her scheduled virtual engagements today, but will continue with light tasks.”
