You might be surprised to learn that some of these 12 celebrities have British heritage or call Britain home. These are 12 surprising celebrities who are British, including one who was born in a London Underground station. How many did you know were Brits?

1 – Kim Cattrall

Perhaps most famous for her iconic role as Samantha in the Sex and the City franchise, Kim Cattrall was actually born in Liverpool in 1956.

The star only lived in Liverpool for three months as a child before her family emigrated to Canada.

In 2009, Kim appeared on an episode of Who Do You Think You Are? in which she traced her family, discovering that her grandfather was bigamous.

2 – Jamie Dornan

Currently starring in BBC’s The Tourist, many people know Jamie Dornan for his role as Christian Gray in the Fifty Shades of Gray films.

Due to his famous role, many assumed that Jamie was American like Christian Grey, but Jamie is originally from Northern Ireland.

3 – Elizabeth Taylor

Screen siren Elizabeth Taylor was one of classic Hollywood’s most famous stars, but the actress was born in Hampstead, London.

She already had American citizenship through her parents, who were both Americans.

Springer was born in Highgate tube station while it was being used as a bomb shelter during World War II.
